Rise or fall, it's up to each of us
I just got word that one of my athletes has a torn bicep and needs surgery. He will be out for 6 to 9 months. His main source of income is fighting. He now has zero income, a big operation, long rehab, and responsibilities to pay for. I am not saying this to make anyone feel bad and I don’t expect Karl to feel bad for himself either. I have 2 points to make:
1) You never know when injury or life will take away what you love to do or who you love. Don’t disrespect the gifts and think what you have at this moment will be here forever. Give everything you have to each moment because you never know which 1 is going to be your last.
2) No matter what you have thrown at you, it is just another opportunity to create success. Not much ends up how we intended. We take what comes our way and we create success or we fold.
You really do have to live each moment as your last. Your dreams matter and they should be achieved. If you disrespect the gifts you were given today for a theoretical tomorrow, you are setting yourself up for failure. If you really believe, you will figure out how to achieve. The only obstacle is yourself and how you allow experience to affect you. You can rise to the challenge or be crushed by it.
Live your life so the 80 year old you is content. Don’t waste your gifts and wish you did it different…
