I was talking with a guy the other day and he said “I’m damned if I do and Damned if I don’t.” The specific situation we were talking about doesn’t matter but the response raises some ideas. The main point is that you really only “Damned if you don’t.” By not acting we give up control and leave to much to chance verses taking some kind of action.
If you want to find success you have to be action oriented. A wait and see philosophy ends up with a whole lot of nothing happening while the world passes you by. I would rather deal with the repercussions of my actions then the one’s inactivity can bring.
A great trainer I used to work with told me that training is like looking in a mirror. We know every moment of that session who we are. Our reflection can’t lie. We are what we can do in that moment. There are no illusions there. We can’t think or talk our way through training. You can either do it or you can’t.
So, to wrap it all up – ideas and thoughts are not real until we act. Training is a way to start acting upon thoughts and ideas. Get in the habit of walking the walk through consistent training. Live a life of action instead of being a spectator while life passes you by.
