“I can’t do it.” How many times a day do I have to hear this?! How do you know you can’t do it? You never tried.
I had a fighter doing a hard set the other day.He had to do deadlift, clean, squat, and press with 135 for 5 sets; 2 reps, 4 reps, 6 reps, 8 reps, 10 reps. After 4 reps he said “I can’t do it!” Bullshit, shut your mouth, get your head right and lift the fucking weight! He killed 6 and 8 reps then crashed at 5 reps into his last set of 10. That was a full 2 and a half sets more then he believed he could do. By trying, he learned he is much stronger then he knew. That is the lesson, we have no clue as to how strong we are until we try to put up that weight.
Talk is truly cheap. It costs us no effort and it brings little reward if any at all. You will never get stronger or live better from flapping your gums. You have to get up and try to do something concrete. For one it is lifting that bar, for you it can be anything you set your sights on.
What are you scared of? Did you talk to much? Are you afraid you can’t back it up? Maybe you should stop talking for a while and start doing so your mouth and your ass can catch up to each other. Make a choice to stop the BS and get to work for a while. After you have tried hard enough to see the truth you can stop lying to yourself and others.
You really don’t know shit until you run head first into the wall. “I can’t do it” won’t become a pregame statement, it is a temporary statement after the fact. You hit that wall and now you know what you can and cannot do today. You say it before and you never will. Say it after and you now have a goal.
Believe in yourself and go for it. It is the only way to attempt anything. We are all way stronger then we know. Pushing to our limit is the only way to find out what those limits are. Don’t confine yourself to limits in your mind. Allow yourself the opportunity to try so you can find the truth.
