We talk about failure quite a bit. Not failure in the classic sense of not achieving a goal. Failure in terms of, the breaking point for your body and mind. I have guys do sets of things like push ups, pull ups, squats, etc… to failure. The point, besides increasing physical condition, is to see what breaks 1st – your body or your mind.
Only you know what your failure point is. You know if you really have nothing left to give physically or if you quit mentally. How far can you push? Can you get past the doubt and truly push your physical body to its quit point?
Everyone is stronger than they know. You will never find out how strong you really are if you mentally break. You quit, you never know. So, do we rise up and see how far we can go or do we quit and live with doubt? Its your choice.
If you allow yourself to entertain “Can’t” you never will. If you put no expectation beyond the acceptance that its going to be hard and most likely hurt, then you have a chance. Suck it up, let the negativity go, and simply work until you have nothing left to give.
You don’t need to do this every single day. But you should try to do this frequently enough to keep yourself grounded and hungry. The struggle is where you define yourself. The struggle is what will give you the strength to be the person you choose to be. You can be everything you want to be but you have to accept the price. Train to pay the price by pushing yourself to your perceived limits, then beyond.
